Habitat Broward Women Build Houses

Women Building a Legacy

Habitat Broward’s annual Women Build program brings together women from all walks of life and challenges them to make a positive impact on the future of Broward County by providing safe, healthy housing for low and very-low income families. Since 2002, thousands of women in Broward have shared their time, talents and resources to build nearly 50 Women Build homes, making Habitat Broward’s program one of the largest and most successful in the United States.

Collegiate Challenge

Every year during the month of March, hundreds of college students from across the country travel to Fort Lauderdale to help Habitat Broward build simple, decent, affordable homes for low-income families in need.  The volunteers are participants of Habitat for Humanity International’s Collegiate Challenge, which is one of the country’s largest alternative spring break programs and offers the opportunity for students to gain new skills, make new friends, and make a meaningful impact on the community.

During March 2014, Habitat Broward welcomed volunteers from Berea College, Saint Vincent College, Adrian College, Grand Valley State University, University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, University of Pittsburgh-Bradford, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Purdue University, and University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

MRW-color-strategiesSponsors of the 2014 Collegiate Challenge program include: The Cheesecake Factory, Popeye’s, MRW Consulting Group, First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale, Dr. Eloise McCoy-Cain, Gina and Eduardo Caballero, Fort Lauderdale Baptist Church Young Professionals, Bright Star Cuisine, The Galjuf Family, The Ulloa Family, Linda D.
