SPRING BREAKERS TRAVEL TO SOUTH FLORIDA TO VOLUNTEER WITH
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF BROWARD
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (March 9, 2010) – During the month of March, more than 200 college students from across the country will come to Fort Lauderdale to help Habitat for Humanity of Broward County, Inc. build simple, decent, affordable homes for low-income families in need. The volunteers are participants of Collegiate Challenge 2010, which is one of the country’s largest alternative spring break programs and offers the opportunity for students to gain new skills, make new friends, and make a meaningful impact on the community. HABITAT BROWARD RAISES MONEY, COLLECTS SUPPLIES FOR HAITI RELIEF EFFORTS
Thousands from across South Florida helped out with donation drive
Fort Lauderdale, FL (February 5, 2010) – Habitat for Humanity of Broward, Inc. raised more than $35,000 and shipped 250 pallets of much-needed supplies to Haiti, helping to assist with the recovery efforts of the earthquake-ravaged nation. Thousands of individuals from across South Florida donated materials, time and funds to the Haiti relief donation drive, which took place at the Habitat Re-Store, located at 505 W. Broward Blvd. in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
Thanks to a partnership with Suddath Relocation Systems Inc., the supplies have already been transported to Haiti and will be distributed through Food for the Poor, the largest international relief organization in the United States. Read more...

FOUR FAMILIES RECEIVE KEYS TO NEW HABITAT BROWARD HOMES IN MIRAMAR
Miramar, FL (February 3, 2010) – Habitat for Humanity of Broward, Inc., along with community leaders, supporters, homeowner families and friends, celebrated the completion of construction on four brand new homes at a dedication ceremony in Miramar on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.
Home sponsors for Habitat Broward’s first-ever Miramar build include Miramar Park of Commerce/ WSVN-TV Channel 7, Publix Super Markets Charities, Lorraine Thomas, The Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation and Premier Beverage. During the ceremony, the sponsors were able to congratulate and hand over the ceremonial keys to the new homeowners: the McNeal, Merrill, Turner and Wright families. Read more...

The tour of the first LEED Silver registered house for Habitat for Humanity of Broward County was informative and agreed by the attendees a process that we will continue to follow. Adeptly handled by the husband and wife team of Mary Lou Bowman-Cubbin and Russ Cubbin we saw how much can be accomplished when dedication to producing quality, affordable homes combines with dedicated volunteer efforts. FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (October 21, 2009) – Habitat for Humanity of Broward County today announced Robert W. Leider as the new chairman of its board of directors. He will take leadership of the organization from Kathy Craven, Vice President of Craven Consulting, who completed her two-year term in September.
Leider is the Executive Vice President of Sunbeam Television Corporation and General Manager of WSVN-TV Channel 7. Prior to joining WSVN in 1974, Leider worked in sales with Metromedia Broadcasting (now 20th Century Fox) and ABC Television. Read more...

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY GIVES FAMILIES & YOUTH BLUEPRINTS FOR A BETTER LIFE
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (July 29, 2009) – Habitat for Humanity of Broward County recently wrapped up the second year of its Youth Enrichment program, providing more than 70 participants ages 10 to 17 with a meaningful way to become invested in the Habitat experience and contribute to their family’s journey to homeownership.
Called Blueprints4Life, the program offers a variety of activities designed to empower the youth of Habitat families to become mentally, physically and emotionally prepared to engage in educational and community opportunities that will serve them well into adulthood. Read more...

Levan - held on Thursday, March 19 at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort. With the assistance of guest emcee Jason Crush, Executive Director of Habitat Broward, the program highlighted the 25 year history of the organization, the role it plays in supporting families eager to break the cycle of poverty and obtain homeownership and its innovative plans for the future featuring a 30-home, LEED Silver Certified Level, “green” community right here in Fort Lauderdale.
